How can I use Single Sign-On on Zenva Schools?

Zenva Schools offers the ability for users to use Single Sign-On (SSO) for Azure AD Microsoft accounts, Office 365 Microsoft accounts, and Google accounts. This article will briefly discuss how to set up your school and user accounts to use the SSO option.

Setting up Accounts for Single Sign-On

Before being able to use SSO, School Admins and Teachers must perform the following steps.

Enable Email Login

In order for SSO to work, the School Admin must ensure their School Settings have Email Login enabled. This article here discusses how to enable Email Login mode and important considerations when doing so: Changing from Username Login to Email Login

You can also review this article for further information on the difference between Username and Email Login.

Add Students with Appropriate Email Addresses

Due to the way Zenva Schools is set up, School Admins and/or Teachers will still need to manually add students to their School Students list before they can log in with an SSO option. You can follow this article's instructions for further steps on how to add students to your school: How to Add School Students

Before adding students, however, keep in mind the following points:
  1. BEFORE adding students, make sure to enable Email Login as described above. Failure to do so may result in incorrect account data that will not allow SSO to work.
  2. You must add the student with the SAME email they use for your preferred SSO option. This sign-in option works by searching our database for a matching email - so if the email doesn't exist, SSO won't work.
  3. Students will still have a separate password for Zenva Schools stored in the system. They can use this password to log in should something happen to the account they use for SSO. Likewise, though, this password should still be kept secure.
  4. Things such as password management will be passed onto the SSO account - we do not store non-Zenva Schools passwords in our system so cannot perform things on them such as password resets.

Logging in with Single Sign-On

Once the accounts are set up for SSO, users can log in by following the process below.

1. Head to login.zenva.com
2. On the sign-in screen, select the correct "Connect with:" button that applies to your SSO option (Google for Google accounts, and Microsoft for Azure AD or Office 365 accounts).

3. After hitting the appropriate button, follow the log in prompts to sign-in to the correct account.

If the login is successful, the user will be able to access all things Zenva Schools from this point!
