This article will cover how to install the GameMaker engine. Before installation, you may wish to review GameMaker's
system requirements.
Downloading and Installing GameMaker
2. Hit the download button that pertains to your operating system.
3. Once downloaded, click the .exe file for Windows or the .pkg file for MacOS to start the installation process. From there, run through the installation prompts. We recommend leaving most settings as default, but you can change things where you're comfortable doing so.
4. After the installation is completed, launch GameMaker if it doesn't do so automatically. For a first time installation, a runtime module will be automatically installed. If it is not, you may be prompted to install it manually in order to be able to run the games on your computer. If so, make sure you either install the Windows VM file or the MacOS VM file. (which ever is relevant to your system).
Once the runtime module is installed, you'll be ready to start using GameMaker to make your projects!
