Enabling 2FA in Student Accounts

Enabling 2FA in Student Accounts

Two-factor authentication (2FA) for students is an optional feature. Making it available can lead to additional sign-in support requests for teachers. Please consider your school's ability to help students with these issues before enabling the feature.

Student support: Zenva does not provide direct customer support to Zenva Schools students. Students should contact their teacher or School Admin for help. School staff are responsible for coordinating student sign-in support.

Enable the feature

  1. As a School Admin, open Administration > School Settings.
  2. Toggle MFA for students, accept the confirmation, and click Save.

Student setup

Students should consult their teacher, then open My Account > My Details. In there, they will see a new subsection called Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

  • Google Authenticator: Follow the on-screen instructions to set up any authenticator app or password manager that supports the Google Authenticator standard.
  • Email Authentication: Available only for schools using email-based sign-in.

Help a student who cannot access their 2FA code

A teacher or School Admin can open Students > Edit for a student in their school, click Remove 2FA, and confirm. The button appears only when the student has 2FA enabled. The student can then start a new sign-in using their existing password.
