Changing Video Playback Settings

Changing Video Playback Settings

Each course video comes with a set of playback controls in the bottom right corner of the video viewer. These controls allow users to individually change aspects of how the video plays and customize the experience to suit their learning needs.

This article shows users the options available and how to adjust them.

Playback Speed

You can adjust how fast the video plays using the playback speed functionality. This allows you to slow the video down if it's too fast, or speed the video up if it's too slow. You can also adjust this speed at any time to suit the content of the video.

This functionality is represented as a stopwatch in the video menu bar.

Note that we DON'T recommend faster playback speeds in areas with slow internet connections.

Subtitles

EVERY video lesson comes with optional English subtitles. This can be turned on or off via the speech bubble icon in the video menu bar.

Note we do not currently offer subtitles in other languages at this time.

Video Quality

Depending on your local streaming conditions, you may need to adjust the video quality to prevent buffering. This can be adjusted via the four bars icon on the video menu bar.

This said, we recommend leaving the quality to Auto, as this will find a suitable speed in most situations.

Volume

Like many video players, you can adjust the volume of the video itself using the speaker icon in the video menu bar. This allows you to find a comfortable volume without adjusting the volume for the entire computer.

Fullscreen

Represented as a line with two arrows on the video menu bar, the fullscreen option allows you to display the video on the entire screen (vs. as embedded in the browser. You can toggle this as you please, and use the the ESCAPE (ESC) key to exit fullscreen mode.
